AEM Introduces X-Series Plus Wideband AFR Gauge With Next-Generation X-Digital Technology

New Wideband Gauge Delivers Faster Response, Smart Sensor Protection and Industry-First Optional Exhaust Back Pressure Compensation for Professional Tuners and Racers

From AEM

BOWLING GREEN, KY. — AEM, the precision performance electronics brand helping enthusiasts monitor, manage and optimize vehicle performance, today announced the new X-Series Plus Wideband AFR Gauge, the next evolution of its industry-proven X-Series platform. Engineered for professional EFI tuners and hardcore racers, the new gauge delivers faster, smarter and more reliable air/fuel ratio measurement under real-world performance and racing conditions.

Powered by AEM's next-generation X-Digital Technology and proprietary AEM/FAE motorsports sensor, the X-Series Plus delivers AEM's fastest responding wideband AFR system yet. The system adds intelligent sensor warm-up, condensation mitigation and optional exhaust back-pressure compensation to improve accuracy, sensor protection and durability.

"The X-Series Plus takes everything racers and tuners have trusted about our X-Series platform and advances it with smarter sensor management and even greater integration," said Evan Moskal, business unit leader, AEM. "When you're tuning at the limit, the speed and accuracy of data matters. We engineered this system to provide reliable AFR information while adding features designed to protect the sensor and simplify installation in today's increasingly sophisticated street and race vehicles."

The X-Series Plus incorporates Smart Power Control, designed to simplify installation while helping extend sensor life. By delaying sensor warm-up until engine startup is detected, the system helps protect the sensor from thermal shock caused by condensation contacting the heated sensor element, a common cause of premature sensor failure. Smart Power Control also allows the gauge to connect directly to a fused 12-volt battery source, eliminating the need to locate an ignition-switched power circuit. Automatic engine-start detection manages gauge power-up and shutdown, simplifying wiring, installation and everyday operation. At the heart of the system is AEM's proprietary FAE motorsports sensor, which has been tested and verified to outlast competing sensors. An extended two-year warranty backs the sensor.

AEM's X-Digital technology provides rapid AFR feedback for tuners making critical calibration decisions. The current-generation X-Series was independently tested by third-party evaluators and proven to respond 10% faster than competing systems. The new X-Series Plus improves response time by another 10% compared to the previous generation. For 2008-and-newer vehicles, OBDII connectivity allows users to access and view AFR data through the vehicle's factory CAN bus stream. The unit can be configured for either OBDII CAN or AEMnet CAN, providing flexible integration with tuning tools, EFI systems and data loggers, while traditional 0-5V analog and RS232 serial outputs provide additional connectivity options. The X-Series Plus is available in a standard 52mm gauge configuration and is designed to be compatible with AEM's broader performance electronics ecosystem.

Key features: next-generation X-Digital Technology for rapid AFR response; proprietary AEM/FAE motorsports wideband sensor; Smart Power Control for intelligent sensor warm-up and protection; optional exhaust back-pressure compensation; AEMNet CAN and OBDII connectivity for 2008-and-newer vehicles; simplified wiring without the need for switched 12-volt power; standard 52mm gauge configuration; extended two-year sensor warranty; compatible with AEMnet supported devices.
