ASE Automobile Service Consultant Certification Demonstrates Professionalism, Knowledge and Service Excellence
ASE reminds service professionals to attain or advance their Automobile Service Consultant (C1) Certification.

LEESBURG, VA. — The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) reminds service professionals to attain or advance their ASE Automobile Service Consultant (C1) Certification.
The Automobile Service Consultant (C1) Certification is designed to improve the quality of vehicle service through the voluntary testing and certification of automobile service consultant professionals.
The C1 test contains 50 scored questions on communications, customer and internal relations, vehicle systems knowledge, sales skills and shop operations. To become ASE C1 Certified, automobile service consultants must pass the C1 test and present proof of two years of work experience specifically related to service writing, not hands-on automotive repair.
Automobile service consultants must retest every five years to retain their certification. The Automobile Service Consultant Recertification (C1R) test is about half as long as the initial certification test.
“Automobile service consultants play a critical role in helping customers understand vehicle maintenance and repair needs while ensuring clear communication throughout the service process,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “ASE C1 certification demonstrates a commitment to professionalism, technical knowledge and customer service excellence. This helps automobile service consultants build trust with both customers and employers.”
ASE offers a free online study guide that contains test specifications, tasks lists, sample test questions and training resources. For more information about ASE testing and other ASE tests, visit www.ase.com/test-series.
