New GPF Compatible Exhaust Systems for Ford Explorer and Maverick Owners

Thermal R&D Performance offers a first of its kind exhaust system for GPF-equipped Ford vehicles.

LANCASTER, CALIF. — Owners of the Ford Explorer and Ford Maverick with a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) equipped exhaust system finally have an aftermarket exhaust option. Thermal R&D Performance has custom-engineered a GPF compatible cat-back exhaust system for the 2026 and newer Ford Explorer ST, Platinum and Tremor, as well as the 2025 and newer Ford Maverick.

"Our Explorer and Maverick exhaust systems have been the go-to for years, but the GPF compatibility was a curveball. We studied how the GPF affects the performance of these Fords, and based on what we learned we built new systems from the ground up," says Matt Wilkerson, President at Thermal R&D. "GPF-equipped Ford owners finally have an aftermarket exhaust option, with the same bolt-on install, deep tone, zero drone, and performance of all our other kits."

Many new Ford Explorer and Ford Maverick vehicles are equipped with a Gasoline Particulate Filter, which owners can quickly verify by popping the hood and checking their emissions sticker. Recognizing the restrictive nature of these new emissions components, Thermal R&D developed a specialized system that adapts to the GPF without sacrificing exhaust flow or tone.

The new GPF exhaust systems, like all Thermal R&D Systems, utilize True Helmholtz Technology to deliver Drone-Free Exhaust Sound. Other features of the Thermal R&D GPF-compatible exhaust systems include:
Multiple Sizing Options: Available in both 2.5" and 3" diameters to suit different performance and airflow needs.
Custom Turn-Down Options: Specially designed turn-down configurations available for the Explorer Tremor and Explorers equipped with a covered rear fascia.
Premium Tip Finishes: Customization is easy with exhaust tip choices in sleek black ceramic, classic polished, or aggressive carbon fiber.
Broad Vehicle Compatibility: Fits 2020-2027 Ford Explorer ST and Platinum, 2026+ Ford Explorer Tremor, and 2025+ Ford Maverick models with EcoBoost engines.
True Bolt-On Installation: Engineered for a seamless, factory-like fit that requires zero custom fabrication.
True Helmholtz Technology: Proprietary resonance tuning delivers a deep, refined, and aggressive exhaust tone without drone.
Premium Construction: Mandrel-bent T304 stainless steel construction throughout for long-term durability and corrosion resistance.

"Lots of drivers are concerned about how a GPF compromises sound and performance, so we put in the work to engineer around it, not around the customer," adds Wilkerson. "We're staying ahead of new emissions regulations so owners of newer Fords can avoid the choke of a GPF."

Thermal R&D's GPF-compatible exhaust systems let modern Ford owners breathe easy knowing they don't have to settle for factory restrictions. These systems are available and shipping today and are an immediate upgrade path for those looking to reclaim the power of their GPF-equipped Explorers and Mavericks.
