Uniden Firmware Updates Add Ka Block Controls and P25 Digital Decoding Ahead of SEMA 2026
Firmware updates bring new Ka Block controls to select R-Series radar detectors and P25 digital decoding to the BCD160DN, BCD260DN, as Uniden prepares for SEMA

FLOWER MOUND, TX — Uniden America announced firmware updates for its R4, R4w, R8 and R8w radar detectors and for its BCD160DN and BCD260DN scanners, timed ahead of the company's appearance at SEMA 2026.
For the radar detectors, a new Ka Block setting lets owners choose how the detector responds to signals inside a frequency range they configure, with Weak, Mute, adjustable level and Low Priority options. Updated R/TACH apps and configuration tools for iOS, Android, Windows and macOS support the new settings.
For the scanners, the update adds decoding of non-encrypted APCO P25 Phase I and Phase II digital voice transmissions. Uniden notes the scanners can receive P25 trunked systems but do not perform trunk tracking or follow talkgroup IDs. The company also said the updates were shaped by customer and enthusiast feedback.
